Apple ahead of Microsoft in capitalization

The company beat Apple to the company of Bill Gates in terms of market capitalization.

It goes back over 20 years to find a similar situation: Apple's market capitalization has surpassed that of Microsoft Wednesday, reaching $ 222 billion for the Cupertino when the Redmond group represents 219 billion. This does not mean that the Apple is worth more than Microsoft. Changes in funding may be strong upward or downward. But this means that today investors are more likely to believe in the potential of Apple.

In the last 5 years, Apple stock rose 560% while Microsoft shares took only 4%.

Riding on the success of the iPod, the iPhone and probably one of the IPAD, Apple stock now worth of ix times a decade ago.

Microsoft, whose operating system team, however, more than 90% of PCs, has, himself, unable to match the pace of growth in previous years. The company has seen its slowly eroded over the past ten years, losing about 20% of its value.

Apple is now the second largest company in the Standard & Poor's 500 Index by market capitalization behind oil giant ExxonMobil.
