Sonim XP3300 Force - the toughest phone in the world

The American Sonim, maker of mobile industry, recently announced the launch of the toughest mobile phone in the world, the "XP3300 Force," as recognized by the Guinness World Record.

The "Sonim XP3300" actually survives a fall from a height of 25 meters onto concrete, after which it remains in perfect condition.  It meets the certification Class I, Division 1, which can be used in former no-go areas, but especially ATEX Zone 1, which makes it suitable for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere.

Compared IP67 certification, which guarantees its seal after 30 minutes immersion in one meter deep, seems anecdotal.  It also withstands a pressure of one ton, with armed forces or vibrations of a 4G or impact of 5 joules.  Corning Gorilla Glass display their resistance to impact and a hammer for example.

The record holder in return shell features imposing 126 x 60 x 25 mm for 200 to 220 g, depending on battery capacity (1280 mAh or 2000).

Nvidia GeForce 285.79 beta drivers for Battlefield 3

Nividia has just put online a beta version of the GeForce 285.79 drivers, which come mainly improve performance and fix some failures encountered in the title Battlefield 3.

Now available for download (Windows Vista and Windows 7 32-bit and 64 bit, select the beta), these drivers 285.79 Beta Nvidia promises so as performance improvements in Battlefield 3, with significant class GPUs and DirectX 10 DirectX 11.  They are also an opportunity to correct some problems of corruption of the image, likely to occur with the DirectX 10 cards.

 Beyond the Battlefield 3, these drivers are also an opportunity for the manufacturer to offer SLI and 3D Vision profiles updated and unpublished for titles like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Payday: The Heist or The Adventures of Tintin.

Apple iOS 5.01 Update

Apple has put online the version 5.01 of IOS, the operating system intended for iPhone, iPod and other iPad.

 This first update brings iOS according to the firm at the apple a fix to the problems encountered with self iOS 5.0, without details.  The update also improves the voice recognition for Australian users as it offers first-generation iPad gestures management multitasking.  Synchronization problems with iPad were also corrected.

 Available now from iTunes, the update 5.1 can also be installed OTA mode: It takes only 44 MB download.  To do this go to the Camera Settings, tap General, then heading Software Update and follow the instructions.  The question is whether the issues of autonomy are actually fixed!

Adobe also drops the Flash Player to TV

New strategies for Adobe Flash technology does not ultimately affect the mobile platforms but also televisions.

 We learned yesterday that the company no longer wished to develop Adobe's Flash Player for mobile operating systems.  The firm will explain further encourage developers to use its tools to embed their applications so they run natively on different OS.  Reading streaming video should then go through the technologies of HTML5.  According to the blog GigaOM, this decision also connected televisions.

 By unveiling the version 10.1 of its Flash Player Summit Adobe MAX 2009, Adobe's Open Screen Project materializes.  It aimed to provide a rich experience of the Internet for all sorts of devices, unifying the reader on all platforms (computers, smartphones, TV) and removing licensing fees.  Adobe has signed partnerships with a number of manufacturers from which we find Broadcom, Intel, STMicroelectronics, NXP Semiconductors and Sigma Designs.  In May 2010, Google joined the initiative for its Google TV.

 A spokesman for Adobe said however that, like the decisions made on mobile browsers, Flash Player will no longer be supported for TV. "We believe the best approach to deploy content on television is through applications, not through the browser," said the latter.  Adobe AIR tools will therefore be put forward for content providers wishing to offer their feeds on televisions connected.
