Microsoft fixes the bug screen installation browsers

Microsoft fixed a bug that prevented the famous ballot screen to propose the installation of third-party browsers on the Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The integration of Internet Explorer directly within the Windows operating system had provoked strong reactions from publishers competitors to Microsoft.  In June 2009, Opera Software had filed a complaint accusing the software giant of abuse of dominant position.  Mozilla and Google followed suit.  The European Commission had forced Microsoft to return until 2014 the famous "ballot screen" allowing consumers to choose what browser to be installed and configured by default.

In July the Brussels authorities had learned that the installation screen browsers imposed on Microsoft in 2010 was not returned to consumers.  More specifically, the problem had occurred since Windows 7 Service Pack.  For 19 months, Microsoft has not complied with the demands from Brussels.

In a new Microsoft update ( KB976002 ) Installation wizard that deploys from users of Windows 8.  User forums Neowin says that it appeared after a reboot.  He noted that this ballot screen is presented as an application Metro opens automatically when you start the machine.

Apple would be less dependent on Samsung for iPhone 5

In order to diversify its suppliers, the Cupertino company will supply at least its main partner, Samsung, to supply the memory chips of the next iPhone.

Samsung is a pillar in the manufacture of Apple products.  South Korean provides microprocessors, screens and memory chips also used in iPod, iPad and iPhone.  According to a source close to the negotiations cited by Reuters, Apple has reduced orders for memory chips (DRAM and NAND) with Samsung for the iPhone 5, which is expected unveiling Wednesday, September 12. According to Bloomberg, it would be a disagreement between the two companies on prices.

The American dismissed Samsung's list of suppliers of memory chips for the first delivered to the iPhone 5.  However, the South Korean remains one of its main partners, said the industry source, including the new smartphone.  Apple's maneuver would have benefited the Japanese Toshiba and Elpida Memory and Hynix of South Korea.

The author of the information denied market speculation under which this shelving Samsung would be the result of multiple legal battles from both manufacturers of smartphones and tablets.
An analyst quoted by Bernstein notes that orders for DRAM and NAND memory chips with the South Korean "fell significantly representing 2.5% of revenues from Samsung."  In addition, the activity of Samsung memory was the only back from year to year in the last quarter (8%).  In total, Apple weighs 9% in income from Samsung.

According to a source quoted by the Korea Economic Daily, Apple iPhone 5 will equip its main battery from Amperex Technology Chinese and Japanese Panasonic, leaving somewhat subsidiary specializing in lithium-ion batteries Samsung SDI.  For the provision of the screen, LG is one of the main partners for the iPhone 5 at the expense of Sharp who has lost a bit of ground, indicates the person consulted by the Korean newspaper.

Samsung, which has not yet commented on the information remains the sole supplier of microprocessors for Apple's iPhone and iPad.  A strengthened relationship in late August by the announcement of depth increase its production capacity at its plant in semiconductors Texas.  This is made an investment of $ 4 billion to convert its foundry initially reserved for memory chips to manufacture SoC (System on a Chip) 28 nm for mobile devices.
