Sony released its new SxS Card offers 32GB of storage capacity

Sony has released its new SxS Card that offers 32GB of storage capacity, which is able to store up to 100 minutes of HD video. This new SxS Pro memory card also provides a fast data transfer for up to 800Mbps. Sony’s Brand New SxS Card retails for a hefty $1,500.

The 32GB SxS Pro memory card posts the fastest data transfer rates, with speeds up to 800 Mbps, and a price tag to match: $1,500. It can also handle 100 minutes of full-HD video and a range of abuse, from shock to G-forces. The smaller 16GB Pro CF card provides half the storage capacity, but still works with the latest cameras and comes in at a much lower $399 price level.

For pros who really have a need to shoot nonstop, the PHU-60K 1.8-inch hard drive offers 60GB of storage and a standard USB 2.0 interface. Once plugged in, offers the same benefits as the pricier SxS cards, like thumbnail views. It’s also built extra robust for a hard drive, with a sensor to detect falls and protect the drive by parking its heads before impact. And despite packing nearly twice the storage as the 32GB SxS card, it’s priced cheaper at $1,000.

Yahoo! Launches Geo-Location Platform

Yahoo! has announced the launch of Fire Eagle, an open platform that enables users to provide real-time information about their location and to update the data either automatically or manually via the Internet-based mobile or desktop applications.

For those who consider the platform yet another technological gimmick set to invade their privacy without them being aware of it, Yahoo! has some reassuring news. Users can delete their location details from any given application they have subscribed to, as well as hide their location or even lie about it, if they consider it necessary.

Common end-users are not the only ones to benefit from the features of this network supported tool. Developers are offered a free geo-location platform that can be used as base for any geo-aware application. Starting from scratch with this sort of programs would be really expensive, but Yahoo! developers decided to give a helping hand to all programmers who want to add an interesting feature to their applications.

Fire Eagle allows users to syndicate their positional data to any partner service after updating from a supported device or website. This means that after sending a Pownce message with a geo-tagged photo, I could have Fire Eagle automatically update my current location on my blog and social network profile. Users can opt to disable updates whenever they’d like, and for the especially paranoid, you can even lie about your location.

GTS World Racing Game for iPhone

Handmark announced the release of their GTS World Racing mobile game for the Apple iPhone and Apple iPod Touch. With GTS Word Racing iPhone gamers can steer, break and accelerate their car simply by moving and turning the Apple iPhone or Apple iPod Touch device itself.

GTS World Racing is also available for Windows Mobile and Palm handsets, but the newly-announced edition was especially designed to make use of iPhone's built-in accelerometer and offer gamers a unique racing experience. Thus, those who try the game will joyfully find out that they can control the cars, accelerate and brake only by "moving and turning" the iPhone.

GTS World Racing features four playing modes: Single Race, Challenge Cup, Grand Tour and Championship. Moreover, there are four difficulty levels, three car types, 16 locations and 64 tracks to play on; thus, GTS WR seems quite a comprehensive game.

Talking about GTS World Racing, Paul Reddick, Chief Executive Officer at Handmark, said, "We are excited to continue releasing the finest in mobile content, taking advantage of the unique capabilities of our partners like Apple. We bring the highest quality mobile applications to the market for our partners and end-users, making the mobile experience both fun and productive".
Howard Tomlinson, Director of Game Development, Astraware, added, "We have a long-standing relationship with Pazzazz Games and are delighted to bring GTS World Racing to the App Store. I love that I can control the game holding and turning my iPhone just like a steering wheel, which really shows off how well the device's accelerometer works. This is classic arcade racing fun!".

GTS World Racing has been jointly developed by Handmark Game Studio, Aatraware and Pazzazz Games, and is available exclusively through Handmark via the Apple App Store at a one time purchase price of $7.99.

Sony Introduces BRAVIA X4500 and W4500 LCD HDTV Series

Sony is quite keen on "conquering" the European market, at least as far as high-definition TV sets are concerned. The Japanese company has launched quite an impressive number of models this year and doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon, the best examples of this policy being Sony's latest announcement, regarding the BRAVIA X4500 and W4500 series.

The X4500 series is available in 40-, 46- and 55-inch sizes and features a "floating" design that should compliment the optional colored speaker covers quite nicely, thank you. Meh -- we're personally more enthusiastic about the locally-dimming LED backlight, DLNA support and the sheer number of speakers packed into the cabinet (eight on the 55-inch model, six on the smaller ones). We're also curious to see Sony's "IB Reduction" in effect, combined with interlaced backlight dimming that promises to reduce motion blur without introducing flicker.

BRAVIA X4500 series
  • Full HD 1080p
  • Graceful floating design with translucent frame
  • Best-ever clarity, colour, contrast and definition with BRAVIA™ ENGINE 2 PRO
  • Rich, deep colours, superb contrast and reduced power consumption from new RGB
  • Dynamic LED backlight (46, 55-inch)
  • Smoother, sharper fast-moving action with Motionflow PRO100Hz technology (46, 55-inch)
  • Enjoy digital music and photos from networked DLNA devices

BRAVIA W4500 series

  • Full HD 1080p
  • Innovative styling inspired by new ‘draw the LINE’ design concept
  • Superb clarity, colour and contrast with BRAVIA™ ENGINE 2
  • Smoother, sharper fast-moving action thanks to Motionflow 100Hz with Image Blur Reduction technology
  • njoy digital music and photos from networked DLNA devices.
