Tata Docomo Brings Manga to Indian Mobiles

Tata DoCoMo will offer manga over mobile phones starting September . To start with the Indo-Japanese venture will offer 6 title, which would be translated in English and the company plans to give out more mobile manga in the coming days. Mobile Manga is becoming very popular in other countries among Anime and Manga fans. The Mobile Manga over Tata DoCoMo will cost you INR 20 per title, which I think is an ok pricing. Tata DoCoMo is expecting that title would be downloaded almost 3000 times. There are companies in Japan like TOKYOPOP who are pretty big in the Manga space and have started offering mobile manga services since last year. May be DoCoMo is looking at players like TOKYOPOP. Tata DoCoMo, since its launch, is doing things, which is setting it apart from the existing mobile services providers, firstly, their per second pulse rate is hit among the younger generation, then it came up with an animation contest , which will also be used as their TV ad and now this mobile manga. I guess they are on the right path and things like this would help them create a niche for themselves.

Tata Docomo has begun providing its users with. This of course has come out of NTT Docomo’s Japanese roots with whom Tata Teleservices joined hands to launch the co-branded GSM service in India.

According to this post, the Indo-Japanese venture will offer 6 title, which would be translated in English and the company plans to give out more mobile manga in the coming days. These 6 titles will come at Rs. 20 a piece. Tata Docomo is said to be looking at around 2000 to 3000 downloads of this service.

Tata Docomo has created a few ripples in the mobile GSM space with its innovative pricing for various services be it per second rates or the recently introduced diet SMS plans. It clearly seems to be aiming for the more cost conscious youth market, and this move certainly puts more weight tot he thought. The popularity of Manga and anime has been rising amongst the teens and young adults in India and they’re likely to be open for more avenues to access such content. In fact mobile versions might suit perfectly with the crowd to read and experience the content better than most other media.

Mozilla wants to bring more security in Firefox

The Mozilla Foundation is testing the integration of new technology to fight against attacks like XSS.

An attack of Cross-Site Scripting or XSS is to inject malicious code into a Web site to execute script (usually JavaScript) external to the page with the main objective of the flight data users. This code can be transmitted via an advertisement posted on the site, a comment left on a forum, an API ... The XSS vulnerabilities are most often due to errors in coding Web applications and can execute code in the browser and in the context of sites visited.

In the fight against XSS attacks, the Mozilla Foundation is developing a technology called Content Security Policy. This framework should enable Web sites to protect against XSS and related attacks. CSP allows developers to embed HTML headers in their sites so that the browser can determine which areas should be considered safe. A principle that is reminiscent of a white list where only authorized areas can be called as part of the execution of a script from a site.

Far from throwing stones at Web developers, Mozilla said it is difficult to supervise everything and filter everything a malicious user can upload a site, at a time when the Web is becoming more interactive . The last week, Mozilla is seeking comments on CSP, has expressed its implementation in trial versions specially concocted for Firefox (version 3.7). An implementation is not yet fully complete, while a demonstration page was posted.

The question is whether other browsers adopt CSP. Mozilla expects at least that CSP becomes an open standard through the W3C.

The Wireless Power Consortium (the Consortium) announced today that Nokia, the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer, has joined the Consortium.

“As the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer and leader in mobile telecommunications, Nokia brings a new dimension to the Consortium. This significantly expands the potential market traction of the Qi wireless charging standard,” said Menno Treffers, Chairman, Wireless Power Consortium,

“Wireless charging technology carries significant potential to enhance consumer experience of battery charging,” said Markku Verkama, Director, Devices R&D, Nokia. “Consumers expect ease of use and general compatibility of mobile devices. By joining the Wireless Power Consortium, Nokia continues to support the open standards approach that aims to meet these consumer expectations. Mr. Treffers said consumer research commissioned by the Consortium indicated that a universal standard in wireless power charging ranked within the top 20 percent of consumer lifestyle demands and that more than 80 percent of consumers surveyed saw wireless power as something they would use with virtually all of their electronic devices every time they charge them . The Consortium’s Qi universal standard pioneers the interoperability needed for easy, convenient wireless power charging everywhere.

Nintendo's `Wii Fit Plus' adds pet support

Pet owners can weigh themselves with their furry friends on "Wii Fit Plus," the follow-up to the top-selling Nintendo workout game.

The updated title lets players create avatars of their dogs and cats, enter information such as their pet's birthday, and use the scalelike Wii Balance Board controller to weigh themselves and their pets. The game will then continue to monitor the pet's weight alongside its owner.

"It's so fun to have a motivator when you're working out," said Katie Cray, Nintendo entertainment and trend marketing manager. "Obviously, if you have a dog, you're probably out there walking your dog and playing with it, and that's exercise in and of itself, so it's nice to have the ability to track the progress of both your dog and yourself."

"Wii Fit Plus," which launches Sunday, doesn't have any training exercises for pets. It does have several new features for human users, including three strength training exercises, three yoga activities and 15 balance games. Players can customize their routines, allowing them to focus on working out specific parts of their bodies.

Nintendo invited the media and celebrities including Rachael Leigh Cook, Nick Cannon and Brooke Burke — and their pooches — to preview the game Tuesday at the "Wii Fit Plus" Fitness Club, a Beverly Hills space transformed for one day into a posh health club, led by trainer Tracy Anderson, whose celebrity clientele includes Madonna.

"I will definitely prescribe it to people who are at a level where they lack a mind-body connection or they lack motivation or also people like Gwyneth Paltrow, who I train all the time," Anderson said. "Sometimes we're in trailers on movie sets, and we don't have a lot of room, but it doesn't take much room to set up `Wii Fit Plus' and customize a program."
