Intel and Nokia are now together

The largest chip maker Intel and the famous market mobile company Nokia announced in Barcelona on a joint mobile platform MeeGo. She became a hybrid system, Intel Moblin-based Linux kernel and platform Nokia Maemo.

While the new mobile operating system was just introduced. Its first version is expected to appear in the second quarter of this year. The first gadget on the basis of this system reach the stores by the end of the year.

Interestingly, this platform is designed for a wide range of devices. It can be used not only smartphones, but also in tablet PCs and netbooks. All this will run applications created for it in various gadgets without further adaptation. Programs for MeeGo appear in the store Nokia Ovi Store.


MeeGo is an open platform. The code will be published. At the same time Nokia will maintain and the operating system Symbian, which will be the foundation of most smartphones, but with MeeGo will work more expensive and powerful gadgets.
