300 million Internet users on Windows Live Messenger

On its official blog, the Windows Live team reports that 300 million Internet users now use the instant messaging client Windows Live Messenger in 76 countries and 48 languages. In France, the software would be adopted by 47% of Internet users against 40% in Italy, 39% in the United Kingdom and 73% in Turkey.

Overall users communicate on Messenger for 163 billion minutes each month, or 9.4% of the total time spent online by all consumers. Every day Microsoft saves 130 million connections, over 40% of users. More than 9 billion messages are transferred daily. Finally, peak the company can save more than 40 million simultaneous connections.

The next version of Windows Live Messenger should be unveiled in the coming weeks with major update product family live in Wave 4. According to preliminary information gathered in December, the contact list would be slightly amended and divided into two columns with a flow of activities of its contacts on different networks community.
