RIM unveils BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express

On the occasion of the international exhibition Mobile Barcelona, Research In Motion has unveiled BESX or BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express. Available free, the software is placed between the professional BES and BIS service available to individuals.

With BESX it will be possible to synchronize data between BlackBerry and Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Windows Small Business Server. This solution should allow small businesses and professionals to obtain more advanced features than the simple push mail without having to invest in infrastructure originally designed to manage thousands of employees connected to a central server. Besides email, the user will be able to synchronize their address books, but also its timing his notes and tasks. BESX work with the Microsoft Office suite version 2010, 2007 and 2003 and Windows Small Business Server 2008 and 2003.

Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion said, "In a market or smartphone becomes ubiquitous, Blackberry Enterprise Server Express raises the bar much higher by offering companies a low cost solution to connect all employees with a BlackBerry personal phone without compromising their safety or their management. After release a range of smartphone more oriented towards the general public (Bold, Curve 8900, Pearl Flip, Touch Series 9500), RIM thereby addressing the software part and intends to compete with the pay offer Apple's MobileMe or synchronization services offered by Google on various platforms.

BESX should be freely available for download in March
