Google News appears to information "local"

Now users of the search engine Google News have the opportunity to add to the home page of this aggregator of news feeds a component of local information. To enjoy, simply be saved using a Google account, then select "Add a local section" via menu "Edit this page". We can then select a city name or zip code, to be offered an automatic selection of articles and news on the selected area.

Already launched in the United States, Great Britain or Canada, this feature uses special algorithms, which Google says more work. "We train our algorithm to detect when a news article refers to a specific location and when it does not. The city of Paris, who is also the name of a celebrity, has been particularly problematic in this regard, "Mikey says Levine, an engineer at Google.

A first step towards local advertising on the pages of Google News? The development of this service related to the news comes as the search begins from the beginning of October to test in California, a device for localized advertising, Local Ads Listing, for small and medium enterprises.

In turn, the press titles "local" should be confronted with the dilemma posed by Google News: one side, a significant source of traffic, but on the other, a form of parasitism, with a service that builds a hearing, and future revenue on content that their editors were sometimes difficult to monetise.
