Nokia introduced Ovi SDK

As part of the conference held in Stuttgart Nokia World 2009, Nokia unveiled a package of development tools Ovi SDK and the new API for creating applications in navigation. Thus, with a new tool for developers to create applications will be quicker and easier. Ovi SDK Beta widespread use of Web technologies like HTML, CSS and Javascript. The structure of SDK includes Ovi Navigation Player API and Ovi Maps Player API, designed to develop and embedded navigation applications and use maps Ovi Maps, respectively.



New tools allow developers to create applications not only for the Symbian platform and Maemo, but also for ordinary Internet users. Aimed at developing Web applications SDK includes:

  • package features Javascript, supporting work with 3D maps and GPS, the navigation-oriented for both cars and pedestrians
  • templates to facilitate the design process
  • libraries to facilitate the creation of user interfaces for different types of devices with different screen sizes
