Sony invented a cat collar connected to Twitter

Notices to owners of cats who wonder what their cats during their absence: Sony Computer Science Laboratories presented last week during the Open House 2010, a device for monitoring real-time wanderings of tomcats on Twitter ....

Developed in collaboration with the University of Tokyo, the system called Cat @ log, is a collar with GPS, a Bluetooth chip, a digital camera and an accelerometer, which can locate and determine the activities of the animal, where it is. It is then possible to associate all in a twitter account, which is updated via a Bluetooth connection to a computer, and displays information on what the cat. The demonstration of Sony CSL proposed 11 fixed sentences, but the manufacturer plans to offer much more.

The device also incorporates a face recognition system ... cats, designed by Sony's laboratory, using photographs of thousands of cats available on the Internet, reports Techon . A function that would then establish the list of "dating" the cat in the location-based encounters.

For now, the Cat @ log is still at the prototype stage, and Sony Computer Science Laboratories has nothing hinted of a possible sale of such a device, rather limited as they are: Bluetooth connection request that the animal is near a computer to initiate the transfer of information, which is impractical when the cat is a fan of walks.

Then chat with her cat on Twitter soon a reality? Nothing is less certain: that is, by cons is that some dudes would probably have more interesting things to tell that some humans on the microblogging site ...
