A new device has been created against Internet fraud in the United States. The website Ifraudalert.org allow researchers to report each complaint registered by the Internet such as identity theft, hacking a user account or stolen credit card information.
Among the participants in this project we find Microsoft, eBay, Paypal but also the association of U.S. banks or the FTC, the organization responsible for protecting consumers and regulating trade. The group Anti-Phishing, members include Symantec, McAfee and VeriSign, is also the party and have recorded 410,000 complaints of Internet fraud in 2009. Ifraudalert.org also benefit from the collaboration of the National Cyber Forensic and Training Alliance, a discussion group on the dangers of the Internet that is working with the FBI and various university research centers.
The platform will Ifraudalerts.org each employee to share sensitive information. Indeed, Microsoft said in a statement: "Until now there was no simple mechanism through which it was possible to notify a service provider or a bank in case of compromised information."
The question is whether this new alliance will be successful. Recent actions have grouped the closure of several hosts specialize in sending massive amounts of spam as McColo Corp or Pricewert. In October last, the government agency Nigerian EFCC announced it had closed 800 Web sites and fraudulent method to 18 arrests.
