After Pakistan, Facebook is blocked in Bangladesh

If Facebook, censured last May 18 in Pakistan following a competition of cartoons made by one of its members , is again available in the country since last Friday, is now Bangladesh, which has blocked access to social network.

The origin of this filtering, the same page deemed blasphemous by Pakistan, namely that concerning the "Day Draw Muhammad, but also other pages with" unpleasant images "of the country's leaders," including the father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and the leader of the opposition, "said a spokesman for the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Bangladesh. The blocking measures were taken Friday, following a demonstration which brought together thousands of Bangladeshis in the streets of the capital, Dhaka. The BBC also indicates that a person suspected of having sent the images in question on the social network was arrested Saturday in Dhaka.

Facebook is blocked for blasphemy, but the government of the country indicates that access to the site will be restored "once the pages containing the images have been erased outrageous." A request had also been Pakistan in vain if the social network is again available in the country, the pages involved are, they always filtered.
