AVG is now in version 9.0

AVG today announced the availability of a new version of its antivirus software. For this version 9.0, the company has concentrated its efforts on the speed of scanning machine. Thus, analysis of storage media would be up to 50% faster. Note also increasingly protective devices. Several improvements have been made in the firewall, anti-phishing and anti-spam.

Signature management has been revised so that individual protection modules has the latest information on the latest threats. The firewall would also be less intrusive with half of dialog boxes that require user intervention. AVG announces the integration of behavioral detection technology to analyze user operations and, where appropriate, to detect an attempted attack on the machine. LinkScanner technology to filter Internet browsing against phishing attacks have also been optimized.

Through our recent tests, the free version of AVG had a significant memory consumption. This defect should be corrected because the company also announced improvements of 10 to 15% for the startup time and memory usage.

The paid version of AVG is available for 47.95 euros. The free edition is scheduled for mid-October.
