Wikipad: a tablet gaming Android 4.1 for $ 500

Presented at CES in January, the Wikipad, an Android tablet dedicated to cloud gaming, will arrive on the U.S. market in late October at a price of $ 500. A terminal that is, for the moment, not planned in Europe.

It is the duty of GameStop stores that offer in its stores and on its website, the touch pad designed to fit into a removable controller.  Since its first presentation in Las Vegas in January, rose Wikipad Android 1.4 Jelly Bean and found ideal partners with Google and NVIDIA, as well as the Sony tablet has been granted certification Playstation.

The tablet weighs 1.23 pounds, sports a scratch-resistant Gorilla glass screen to protect its 1280-by-800 resolution LCD 10-point-gesture panel, and is Wi-Fi capable. It carries 1GB of DDR2 memory and 16GB of onboard Flash memory, with a Micro SD slot for expanding the storage capacity by up to another 32GB. The Wikipad has a 2-megapixel front camera and 8-megapixel rear unit with Autofocus and flash, a docking connector port, a 3.5mm stereo headphone minijack, built-in stereo speakers, a microphone, and a Micro USB connector.

The unit's power source is a 23.46 watt-hour rechargable lithium-polymer battery that promises up to 8 hours of video play between plug-ins, and the Wikipad also has a 3-axis accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, an e-Compass, and a gyroscope, according to the spec sheet.

The Wikipad is currently available for pre-order from GameStop stores or at the retailer's online portal. Customers pre-ordering the unit get "value-added extras including full-length titles and an issue of Game Informer Digital," according to Wikipad.
