After YouTube, Vimeo happening in HTML 5

A few hours after Google announced its plans to expand the testing phase around the HTML 5 and the video site Vimeo says on his official blog with implementing this technology on most of its portal.

On the top of any compatible video site it will suffice to click on the link at the bottom right titled "Switch to HTML5 player" to get the new drive. This new option has the advantage of starting instantly regardless of the location of the playhead and then without waiting for traditional caching.

However HTML5 is not yet supported by all browsers. "This will only work for about one quarter of you," said developer Brad Dougherty, adding: "you should use the latest versions of Safari, Chrome or Internet Explorer with the plugin installed Chrome Frame. Note that if Firefox takes good care the video H.264 format used by Vimeo is not compatible however, a problem also found on YouTube. Also the full screen mode is not available due to "a limitation of browsers. Finally, it is still not possible to export the clip in this format.

Vimeo says that about 90% of videos uploaded last year will work with this new drive. In all about 35% of videos on Vimeo still require Flash Player.
