RCom launched Universal Plan ( 50 paise/minute )

Reliance Communications (RCOM) launched a new ‘Simply Reliance Plan’ on its CDMA and GSM networks, which offers a single rate of 50 paise per minute across the country with no hidden charges.

Tuesday all its customers can pay a uniform rate of 50 paise per minute, for all services like local, STD, roaming, SMSes, across all networks and also irrespective of CDMA or GSM technology. The only exclusions are the ISD calls.

Existing Prepaid subscriber would need to buy a special tariff voucher worth Rs 48 whereas post-paid customers can go for this plan at a monthly rent of Rs 99. The major benefit would be for STD callers as they would be able to enjoy cheaper call rates. The company through this price reduction wants to penetrate deeply into the GSM Subscriber base in India.

“With this plan we wanted to take out completely the element of confusion that comes with multiplicity of tariff plans,'' said Mahesh Prasad, president, RCom. “While deciding on this new plan we looked at three aspects: value for customers, simplicity of tariff and what-you-see-is-what-you-get approach,'' Prasad said.
