Tata Telecom aiming to add 50,000 new Photon Plus (wireless broadband connections) in State

Tata Indicom is aiming to add about 50,000 new broadband wireless connections in the state during this fiscal with the launch of its Photon Plus service.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday after launch, S Ramakrishna, regional chief operating officer, Tata Teleservices Limited, said the company currently had about 40,000 wireless Internet connections across the state

Tata Teleservices also invested over Rs.100 crore in the Assam circle, establishing a pan-India network with 20 circles to expand their national presence.

“Photon Plus, a high-speed Internet access service, will provide 20 times faster speed than current wireless mobile technologies, with affordable monthly rentals,” he added.

At present, the facility is available in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam in the state. The company plans to extend this facilities to cities like Vijayawada, Rajahmundry, Warangal, Tirupati and a few other places in a phased manner, he added.



“Of the existing 8.5 million computers and laptops in Andhra Pradesh, only about 700,000 computers and laptops are connected with broadband connections. Hence, there is a lot of scope to increase business in this area,” he said.
