Elektrobit World's first communicator with satellite

The Finnish company Elektrobit demonstrated the world's first communicator, able to work in networks GSM, WCDMA, as well as providing satellite communications. Communicator supports standard GMR-3G, and focuses on work in the satellite operator TerreStar, is working on creating a system of universal mobile IP communications. GMR-3G technology makes it possible to arrange roaming between terrestrial GSM, UMTS and satellite networks, based on the wishes of the user or the geographical coverage of satellite networks. The similarity of the protocols GMR with terrestrial cellular communication systems offer most of the functions of GSM-networks.
