Bing: a 360 ° home page

Microsoft embellishes its search engine Bing and now offers a panoramic home page.

Microsoft fixes the bug screen installation browsers

Microsoft fixed a bug that prevented the famous ballot screen to propose the installation of third-party browsers on the Windows 7 and Windows 8.

 The integration of Internet Explorer directly within the Windows operating system had provoked strong reactions from publishers competitors to Microsoft.  In June 2009, Opera Software had filed a complaint accusing the software giant of abuse of dominant position.  Mozilla and Google followed suit.  The European Commission had forced Microsoft to return until 2014 the famous "ballot screen" allowing consumers to choose what browser to be installed and configured by default.

 In July the Brussels authorities had learned that the installation screen browsers imposed on Microsoft in 2010 was not returned to consumers.  More specifically, the problem had occurred since Windows 7 Service Pack.  For 19 months, Microsoft has not complied with the demands from Brussels.

In a new Microsoft update ( KB976002 ) Installation wizard that deploys from users of Windows 8.  User forums Neowin says that it appeared after a reboot.  He noted that this ballot screen is presented as an application Metro opens automatically when you start the machine.

Google launches rental service for its machines Chrome OS

In the United States, Google has launched a program to distribute its Chrome OS machines for hire.

Twitter joins Linux Foundation

Samsung announces Drive Link, a car-friendly app

Samsung today launched Drive Link, an in-car smartphone application designed for safe use while driving. Drive Link is built around the three most popular uses of smartphones while driving: listening to music, navigating to a destination and talking hands-free. It also includes shortcuts to other useful driving applications that have also met exacting safety certification standards.

"Drive Link" is the equivalent of the Samsung "Car Mode" built into some of Google Android smartphones without custom interface: an application with large fonts and big buttons giving access to the most commonly used in car.  It meets the criteria of the Japanese Automotive Manufacturers Association, which is one of the most stringent safety requirements.

At startup, "Link Drive" appears in this case a home screen with the date and time, local weather and if the next appointment with the opportunity to easily start a call or guidance to contact or address informed.
 
The main menu displays three buttons on it to access the interfaces adapted the music player, solution guide and call function, and two buttons displaying a list of applications and a simplified menu settings .

With this in mind, Drive Link incorporates a feature called Text-To-Speech, available in English (U.S./U.K) French, Italian, German, and Spanish, which enables all incoming messages, emails and updates from social media websites to be automatically read via the car's speaker system so that drivers' eyes are always on the road, ensuring maximum concentration and safety are maintained. All personal contacts saved in the phone are loaded to Drive Link and users can also make a phone call directly by dialing on the keypad.

Drive Link is launching on the Samsung GALAXY S III (GT-I9300) and will be made available on other smartphones running Google Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in the near future. The app is downloadable from Samsung Apps in 21 countries including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Ukraine, and United Kingdom.

Windows 8: Microsoft unveils logos and instructions

Preparation for the launch of Windows 8 also requires the transmission to partners of instructions that allow them to display their products compatible with future operating system. These, however, must follow the rules set by the publisher.

 Many manufacturers of computers or devices logically wish to take advantage of the interest generated by the commercial launch of Windows 8, October 26.  To do this, they will be keen to display on their packaging or point of sale of their products compatible with the new Microsoft operating system.  They will do this to meet the specifications determined by the publisher.

 It goes particularly well defined by a logo which only the background color may vary from four choices.  Size, font and mention of compatibility are in turn fixed according to the model shown below.

In its documentation, Microsoft insists that only the phrase "Compatible with Windows 8" and / or "Compatible with Windows RT" will be accepted.  Idioms such as "Optimized for Windows 8" or "Certified for Windows 8" on the other hand are prohibited.

"Do not refer to the product simply as 8 or RT. Windows always include the name, "said the editor. "Do not use abbreviations like Win Windows 8, Win8 or W8," he says again.



Microsoft stresses that certification may appear on the packaging of new products since July 31.  Interested manufacturers must however wait until 1 September to highlight their display devices outlets.

Google Goggles updated, works with non-autofocus cameras too

The Google Goggles has been updated: it now allows owners of a smartphone that does not have an autofocus use, which was not the case before. In the process, Google has introduced a new system to protect users from malicious links.

Google has been hard at work  updating its mobile applications as of late. Yesterday, the search giant updated its mobile browser Chrome for the iPhone, now it’s delivering an update to its Google Goggles application for Android devices. New Google Goggles features include support for devices that don’t have autofocus cameras, which is perfect for low-end smartphones.

Moreover, the application brings faster and better tracking of objects when in continuous mode, and the search-from-camera feature no longer needs to have Search History enabled for it to work. Goggles also improves its QR-scanning abilities, and will show a thumbnail if the QR code has an embedded URL, will scan URLs against known malicious links, and can read much more bar codes. Lastly, Google Goggles adds search results that appear similar to the subject if it can’t find an exact match.

 Google Goggles version 1.9 adds support for devices without autofocusing optics, giving those on budget gear a chance to use the real world as a search box. Point it at a QR code containing a URL, and it'll show you a thumbnail of the page and check its credentials against its blacklist of malicious sites. If it comes up short when searching for a product, it'll even search for similar-looking items to help you find what you're looking for, and it's available from the Play store for free.

Antivirus: BitDefender unveils 2013 range

As every year in August, BitDefender updates its line of security software. 2013 version of BitDefender offers including access on the protection of bank transactions, and includes protection for smartphones and Android tablets.

 The BitDefender range, which continues for the rest on the success of version 2012 and a simplified interface, and offers two new features common to the three versions.  The first is a protection module transactions.  Title SafePay, this one actually offers a secure browser using a VPN to access your banking sites.

Specifically, the software automatically detects URLs that you type and bank offers to switch to the secure environment, also presented in full screen mode completely isolated from the Windows desktop.  An option allows to memorize this choice for all banking sites.

Instagram 3.0 now available for Android and iOS

A photo card to the limited interest
 The new version introduces therefore a "photo card" that displays the location where the photos were taken from a user at a time.  These cards are actually accessed from the profiles, it is not possible to display a map combining the photos of all subscriptions, or public display photos taken nearby.

 Almost all photos are geotagged with a user, through GPS or default of Wi-Fi environment, users are encouraged to make public their locations on the first launch of this third version.  They can and will handle this aspect for their entire library or for each photo.







Redesigns and optimizations

Apple iOS 5.01 Update

Apple has put online the version 5.01 of IOS, the operating system intended for iPhone, iPod and other iPad.

VoIP: Skype on the iPad

Last week the developers had spotted traces of the VoIP software Skype within WebOS system. It seems that other integration work are also underway including the IOS of the iPad. Indeed, some users were able to observe a video posted on YouTube with the application on the tablet from Apple.

This clip was released directly from the Skype team on his official channel before being removed. Nokia updates its instant messaging application

G Data: 2011 versions are available

G Data takes advantage of her 25 years to launch the 2011 version of its line of security software. Google removes two remote applications

Developers of Android - the pen of the former Sun Microsystems Tim - announced on a blog you remove applications remotely, thanks to a technology to remove applications that are contrary to the conditions of Android Market terminals that have already installed.

Windows 7 sold 150 million copies

Forgotten disappointment Vista? Microsoft on Wednesday welcomed to have surpassed the 150 million licenses of Windows 7 sold worldwide since the launch of its latest operating system in October 2009. According to the editor, this performance would have sold seven licenses of Windows 7 by the second period.

"We are delighted to announce that 150 million licenses of Windows 7 have been sold to date", says a representative from Microsoft on the blog dedicated to Windows. Skyfire 2.1 available for Android: Flash to HTML5
